I was
just excited to be out there being a cheerleader. My best friend,
Natalie, and I were both on the team, and our parents signed us
up for cheerleading classes at a local gym. We did not know much
about cheerleading, so our parents thought this would help us out.
Little did they know that this would be a life changing experience.
At our first practice we
met our cheerleading instructor named Robin. She was a Nashville
Kats Arena Football Cheerleader, and she was a coach for cheerleading
and gymnastics. She was the most beautiful person I had ever met.
She had blonde hair, the perfect body, and a smile that lit up the
room. We showed her what we could do, which was not much, and then
she made us tell what we wanted to accomplish and the goals we wanted
to set. We basically just wanted to become better cheerleaders,
but we mainly wanted to learn how to tumble. After that practice,
Natalie, her sister, and I started taking lessons from her every
Monday for the next two years.
Over those two years, I not only achieved my goals, but I also made
a great friend. Robin and I bonded very well. We were so
alike, and she was so fun to be around. I could tell her
anything, and I trusted her. We did a lot of fun stuff together,
and I even watched her get married. Robin was always wearing
the color pink. It made her happy, and you rarely saw her
without something pink on. One time Robin, Natalie, our
best friend Mattie, who also took from Robin, and I went
to the mall, tried on the ugliest outfits we could find,
and then decided whose was the ugliest. We would also have
sleepovers at her house. As time went on all of my friends
started taking lessons from here as well. They wanted to
be cheerleaders, too. One time all of my friends who took
from Robin, went to her house for a sleepover. We ordered
pizza, watched movies, made videos, and of course made up
a cheer. I went to almost every Kats game to watch her cheer.
She was definitely the prettiest cheerleader out there and
she could dance better then any of them. She was my role
model.

Quiet.......ahhhhh the family's
in bed.
I keep seeing my cheerleaders, dancing in my head.
I sit...at my desk...wondering what to do....
games, stunts, gold and blue.
My job doesn't end, it goes day and night....
with concern for these kids and to teach what is right.
I have changed so much, since the day I said hi...
I fight within, to say goodbye.
I wonder if I've helped at least one to grow.....
that is my passion, more than they know.
To see them smile...to see them cheer...
it makes me know why God put me here.
To share my enthusiasm with one young adult,
is a gift I must share....and not put to a halt.
I struggle at times with why this is rough....
to have some kids so soft and some so tough.
My mind says one thing and my heart says another.......
I know we can do it if we all work together.
My family and my friends.....are my gift from above....
but these cheerleaders have given me a new hobby to
love.
Time for bed....as I say goodnight....hoping all I
love, are tucked in tight!
